NAA Info Session Planned For DC Trip

Published: September 5, 2013

Newtown Action Alliance (NAA) will travel to Washington, D.C., along with gun violence victims and family members from places like Chicago, Hartford, Colorado and other communities, on September 17-18.

The group is planning on visiting Congress, to deliver a letter with a message demanding “background checks and other common-sense measures to prevent gun violence,” according to its website. Members of NAA and other advocates from across the country are planning to meet with Democratic and Republican congressional leaders during the visit, delivering letters and lists of gun violence victims since 12/14.

The group also plans to attend Senator Dick Durbin’s (D-Illinois) Stand Your Ground hearing (Hearing Before The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Human Rights) on September 17.

Teens are welcome on this trip, and an information session is planned for students and parents this weekend. Junior NAA will host a meeting on Sunday, September 8, beginning at 2 pm, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. They will share information about the planned trip to the nation’s capitol.

Light refreshments will be served.
